| Teaching and Learning Strategy in School of Foundation Studies
We firmly believe that people remember things better when they find out for themselves. We also believe that people learn better through practical application than just learning rules or theories. Success in the modern world depends on the ability to solve problems creatively, and working in teams to meet deadlines.
Therefore, whilst in Foundation Studies you will find you are often asked by your teacher to work in groups to solve problems or produce posters or texts and are given a deadline to complete. If you don’t meet the deadline you will lose marks. Some students who are used to being told and having everything organised by the teacher find this difficult. However it is a preparation for the world outside.
