For over a decade, Caledonian College of Engineering have led the way in imparting innovative, creative and environmentally-aware learning experience for younger generation who will take part in the continuous process of building this beautiful nation. The College runs full-fledged engineering honours degree programmes in various disciplines in partnership with its affiliate universities from UK and India. The college has adequate physical, infrastructure and human resources for successful conduct and operation of these programmes. The laboratory, computing and workshop facilities that cater to the needs of underpinning modules are upgraded periodically to meet the varying requirements of different programmes. The College has a well equipped Central Library, Open Access Laboratory, 24 hours high speed Internet access, Student Support Services and Sports & Recreation facilities.

The College IT Support Centre, which is the heart of college for deploying network access to each corner, governs a number of Computer Facilities for general use by students and staff. It also maintains email servers, central file servers and intranet services to all staff and students; multimedia facilities, projection systems integrated with Smart Boards and Blackboard virtual learning system for making the teaching and learning process innovative. The college local area network ties over 800 computers and associated peripherals to a campus wide network allowing access to its resources and those which lie beyond on the Internet. Wireless LAN enables campus wide network access for students and staff.

Career Focus

The College provides career and placement services for our students. This service aims to help undergraduate students and alumni to make a successful transition from College to further studies in GCU or into employment or any further training in local companies. The career information offers a wide range of career and employer literature for reference available at student services or at careers fair.

Career opportunities:

Industry and employers today demands engineers with wide-ranging skills. At Caledonian College of Engineering you have the opportunity to gain such akills which will open up a range of career opportunities. We believe that engineers should be multi-skilled, and should be equipped with good communications to progress in their career.

Our engineering programmes are designed to provide a combination of broad engineering education and specialist knowledge. You can study full-time, part-time or special part-time to suit your convenience. We will also help you decide which career you should follow - not simply the one you think you might be good at. We analyse your potential, broaden your horizons and establish clear goals for you to work towards.

Careers Fair & Campus Interview:

Our annual Careers Fair brings a number of employers to the College and allows the students to discuss career opportunities in a wide variety of disciplines.

It also provides an opportunity for the student to explore the job possibilities in the market and also enables the employers to arrange campus interviews to recruit qualified students from the College.

The Careers Fair opens the possibility of summer placements in the industry.

 

Pre-employment Guidance:

Pre-employment guidance will help you in the quest of finding the right kind of job and to sharpen your skills or strengthen your weak areas before taking up a job.

Our career advisers will help you to arrive at the best possible career option available.

Summer Placements / Training:

We help the student to effectively use their summer holidays by attaching them with local companies to obtain hands-on experience and to understand real-life situations. This will also enable the students to apply the class room knowledge to real life situations.

The summer placements also help to provide practical and work based training projects in order to bridge the gap between theory and practive.

All students who wish to be paced shall apply to Student Services and depending upon the availability will be placed in the various organizations in Oman.

Links with Industries

The college has set up a high level industry Interaction Group (IIG) which meets on a regular basis to discuss current course provision, particularly in relation to industrial links through placements, and in the nature of project work. A key role of the group is to discuss, comment on, and give suggestions for future developments of the portfolio of provision of the College.

The annual career fairs organised by the college also provides an excellent opportunity for students and employers to meet and to know the needs of each other.

Quality

The College is committed to ensure that all its operations and services are of high quality and standard. It has adopted the Quality Assurance System of Glasgow Caledonian University. The College emphasizes a quality approach to all aspects of its work and received the final approval of the Ministry of Higher Education in November 1998, the first private engineering college to achieve this distinction in the Sultanate of Oman.

The general structures and mechanisms by which CCE assures the quality of its programmes are though the College Committees like Academic Council, Industrial Advisory Group, Student Staff Consultative Group, Academic Appeals Committee. Starting from September 2004 College is establishing an Internal Quality Audit system to ensure the proper adherence of various functions to the Quality assurance system.
