Programme Description
The Internet and World Wide Web have created a revolution
in how business transactions are carried out. Electronic Commerce
is described as the processes of buying and selling or exchanging
of products, services and information via an infrastructure
of computer networks including the Internet.
This programme, titled Electronic Business, (E-Business) reflects
the broader area of the changing nature of business. On the
one hand we are seeing the emergence of new business models
including the virtual organisations and the dot coms, and
on the other hand the transformation of business processes
- not just buying and selling but also servicing customers,
collaborating with business partners and conducting electronic
transactions within an organisation.
