The department of Electronic & Computer Engineering has been quite active in organizing seminars, student contests and other technical activities besides being actively involved in various other events organized by the College. The department regularly conducts seminars delivered by key speakers, both from Oman and abroad. Renowned speakers from Glasgow Caledonian University and other Indian Universities have delivered lectures on selected topics as part of the departmental activities. Following is a glimpse of the activities organised in the department/participated by the students so far:s.

  • CaleTech2K3, a student technical paper contest was conducted at CCEO on 17th May, 2003.
  • First Student Gatheringwas held at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) on 20th and 21st March 2004. The following students presented their projects:

    1. Khalid Al Balushi, Tariq, Khalid Ba-Omar, ‘Electronic Nose’
    2. Riffai, Fatma, Maryam, Nasser, ‘Sophisticated Identification Card’
    3. Sameh, Ibrahim, Hitem, ‘CBT on Computer Networks’
    4. Dylan Ruseel Felix D’Crus delivered a Seminar on “Artificial Intelligence: Neural Networks” at the gathering.
  • TechTEN’06 – Student Technical Paper contest was held in November, 2006.

  • Two students from the department Mr. Imad Al Naimy and Ms. Shuhla Al Balushi represented the Sultanate in ITU Telecom World Conference, Hong Kong, 4-8 December 2006

  • The students of the department actively participated in 2nd Student Gathering at SQU organized by Ministry of Higher Education from 30th November to 8th December 2004, and brought laurels to the Institution.

    1. Mr. Mujahid Ali stood second in the competition for his project titled “Computer Interfaced Radio Dual Stepper Motor Controller”.
    2. Mr. Ibrahim stood Third for his project titled “Smart Socket”.
  • 25 students from the department participated in the event organized by Oman Telecommunications Company as part of its efforts to promote E-Governance / E-Society. The event was organized on Dec. 19, 2004 at Al-Bustan Palace Hotel.

  • Engineering Talent Rivalry (E-Try), a student contest comprising of technical paper, quiz and master mind was conducted in December, 2005 under the auspices of IEEE – Student Chapter.

  • IEEE student chapter organised a highly motivating talk and presentation by Dr. Namaani of SQU to the enthralled members during Feb 2007. 

  • Two students Mr. Imad Saud and Ms. Abeer Al Balushi attended the prestigious Bahrain International Conference in Nov 2007.
  • College team comprising of Tomy Bonifas Bosco, Najya Al Hinai, Muhammad Jamal Abid & Fathma Ali Qassim Al Balushi bagged the 2nd prize in the prestigious Student Gamer 2007 contest conducted by Oman Mobile company
  • The college team consisting of Mr. Tomy Bonifas Bosco, Munthasar Theriath Majeed  and Mr. Mohammed Jamal Abid participated in the ‘QUEST 2007-08’ competition jointly hosted by Middle East College of IT & Microsoft .NET Club on 13th April 2008and secured first place in the IT-open Quiz event GIZMO GEEK
  • The college team consisting of Mr. Tomy Bonifas Bosco, Mr. Samer Mardo  and Mr. Mohammed Jamal Abid participated in the ‘QUEST 2008-09’ competition jointly hosted by Middle East College of IT & Microsoft .NET Club on 2nd December 2008 and secured first place in the IT-open Quiz event Geek- a - Byte
  • IEEE Student Chapter organised a talk and Presentation on ‘Networks Monitoring and Troubleshooting for Real-time applications’, by Mr. A. L. Madan Gopal, Senior Manager, Mustafa Science and Industry, on 23 December, 2008. 
  • College team comprising of Fathma Ali Qassim Al Balushi, Raiya Al-Rawahi & Muhammad Jamal Abid  bagged the First prize in the prestigious Student Gamer 2008 contest conducted by Oman Mobile company
  • IEEE student chapter organised a workshop on “State of the Art Skills on Web site development and Web Programming” on 23 February 2009 by Mr. Ramakrishna Kumar, Sr. lecturer.
