Caledonian College’s 20th Careers Fair

The 20th Annual Careers Fair at Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) was inaugurated under the patronage of Sheikh Aimen bin Ahmed Al Hosni, Chief Executive Officer, Oman Airports  on 02nd April 2018. This careers fair brought together more than 30 organisations which, over the course of two days from 02nd to 03rd of April 2018, provided opportunities for graduates to meet potential employers and explore different career paths.  

In his welcome address, Eng. Mohiuddin Mohamed Ali, Director  of Caledonian College of Engineering mentioned that “Establishing collaborations between the college and industry is crucial for accomplishing our mission here at Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE). Many activities are planned throughout the year with the objective of strengthening the relationship between CCE and our partners in industry.  Careers Fair has many mutual advantages and is considered as one of the important events in the College’s academic calendar, providing an opportunity for employers to meet our graduates and recruit potential candidates, and at the same time providing a platform for students to learn about the job market and potential employers.”

Caledonian College was honoured that Sheikh Aimen bin Ahmed Al Hosni, Chief Executive Officer, Oman Airports  inaugurated this year’s Careers Fair.  Sheikh Aimen Al Hosni spoke of how the Careers Fair is an opportunity for strengthening the relationship between academia and industry and how that relationship could help  in meeting the future challenges of human resource development in Oman. He also mentioned about the challenges in youth employment in the context of economic situation with emphasis on creating  opportunities through innovation  and creativity  ".

The companies were provided with exhibition stalls at the college so as to enable companies to meet engineering students and to interview and/or recruit the outgoing engineers for possible employment, training or internship placements. The first day of the Careers Fair was for the benefit of CCE graduates and students while the second day is open to students of all colleges and schools in Oman as part of CCE’s commitment to their corporate social responsibility.  

Dr P Mohamed Ali, Chairman Board of Directors at CCE, in his message stated that “ Human resource is the most important factor for the development of a Country. The prosperity of a country is determined by the skill, efficiency and attitude of the human resources.” Further he added that “We at Caledonian prepare our youths as responsible Engineers and Entrepreneurs to face the growing challenges of this world. Caledonian college always contributed to the development of the skill set of the students. For the last 22 years we are doing this and we are happy that our alumni are serving in various public and private companies:

First day of the careers fair was opened to CCE graduates and students and the second day is opened to students of all colleges and schools in Oman as part of CCE’s commitment to social responsibility.

Dr Ahmed Al Bulushi , Dean   in his vote of thanks expressed  sincere thanks to government and private organizations for their continued support to the careers fair and for their inspiring advice and comments and also welcomed and appreciated interest of new companies who have joined the careers fair and Caledonian family for the first time.
