An Important New Development at Caledonian College of Engineering (AIRPORT HEIGHTS CAMPUS)..

AIRPORT HEIGHTS CAMPUS

An Important New Development at CCE

This is a proud moment in the life of the college: at last we are ready to receive students in our brand new campus at Airport Heights.  We have been growing rapidly in every dimension over the course of the last few years and we have now reached a student population size of over 3,000.  To provide for this large number of students, and to facilitate the growing number of programmes that we offer, we have designed and built Airport Heights campus which will house our School of Foundation Studies.

Airport Heights campus encompasses space for teaching and learning, dining and recreation and social interaction.  Accommodation is also provided at the campus for female students.  The campus is structured around four main areas, or ‘wings’, each of which is described below.

Academic Wing: The main academic activity of the campus takes place in the Academic Wing.  The area encompasses classrooms, laboratories, a library and E-learning facilities.  ‘Food for Thought’, the campus learning cafe, is situated adjacent to the library and there are other opportunities to congregate with friends, particularly in the basement of this wing where the main assembly area is located.  The large multi-purpose hall will be used for inductions, special occasions, meetings, drama and other extracurricular activity; it will also be where foundation students will take many of their examinations.  Staff offices in this area include the Student Services Centre – the first port of call for students who need to find help of any kind during their foundation studies.

Faculty Wing: Students looking for advice from teachers can take an appointment for a tutorial through the Departmental Assistants, located in the Faculty Wing.  Although this wing is dedicated mainly to staff offices, students will also find prayer room facilities and a first aid room located here.

Accommodation Wing: Boarding for 250 female students is provided in the Accommodation Wing.  The area is a comfortable, friendly and secure environment in which to study, socialise and sleep.  It encompasses the hostel administration offices, counselling facilities, reading and study areas, separate prayer rooms and recreational and laundry facilities.  The Accommodation Wing is protected with 24-hour security and CCTV monitoring.

Dining & Recreation Wing: Dedicated caterers have been commissioned to provide dining opportunities in ‘Heights Cafe’ – a key place to head at lunchtime or any time during the day for some rest and relaxation.  There are separate facilities for men and women, including segregated dining areas and recreation rooms.

Communication and learning is facilitated throughout the campus through the provision of WiFi and Wired networks enabling students to check college information on the Caledonian Portal and access files connected with their studies.

Airport Heights Campus Location
